Former world boxing star Floyd Mayweather may visit the country at the end of this year, with the aim of assisting national boxers in creating conditions and requirements for participation in International Boxing Association (AIBA) competitions, he assured today, in Luanda, the president of the Angolan Boxing Federation, Carlos Luís.
Speaking to the press today, the leader, without giving any details on the probable date, made it known that contact for the American’s arrival was maintained with the world champion’s representative at the Angolan Embassy in Ghana.
But first, Carlos Luís has planned a trip to Ghana and the USA, as part of the protocol that will be signed with the former boxer, who presented a proposal for investment in Angolan boxing.
FABOXE, according to its president, has already informed the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other official entities of the possibility of Mayweather’s arrival.
Floyd Mayweather Jr., born on February 24, 1977, is an undefeated former American boxer and widely recognized as the best boxer of his generation and among the greatest fighters of all time.
He was world champion twelve times in five different categories, from super featherweight to light middleweight, also winning the welterweight and light middleweight divisions.
With 50 victories in the 50 fights he competed in, Floyd is one of the few fighters who ended his career without defeat.
