Tamar Golan Gallery presents “A Fonte”, a collective exhibition of five young Angolan visual artists.
Angolan visual artists Airina da Silva (Kisha kipito), Leandro Marques, Jardel Selele, Hednezer Roma and Uólofe Griot present at Galeria Tamar Golan “A Fonte”, a collective exhibition to open on October 11, 2019, Friday , at 6pm.
According to a press release from that institution sent to Notícias de Angola, the exhibition will be open to the public until the 30th of November, and can be visited from Monday to Saturday, from 12:30 pm to 7:30 pm, in the contemporary art gallery of the Art and Culture Foundation, in downtown Luanda.
The protagonists of A FONTE have some common characteristics. In addition to being all members of UNAP and having already held individual and group exhibitions, they are all born in Luanda. The ages of each of them vary but they all share one thing that stands out: they are great talents, some proven, others emerging.
Airina Silva (Kisha Kipito), born on May 7, 1996, is a visual artist and performer. Anyone who reads her CV will quickly realize that she has participated in many events as a performer and writer. Jardel Selele, born on August 20 of the same year, needs no introduction. He is, let’s say, a son of the house who returns to Tamar Golan after numerous individual and group exhibitions, some of which are the most important in the Fundação Arte e Cultura’s own contemporary art gallery.
Hednezer Roma, born in 1993, is an illustrator, watercolourist, painter and infographic artist, with the main focus of his work being the human body, which he transforms into a machine. Uólofe Griot is a visual artist, studying at the Instituto Superior de Artes (ISART). Leandro MarquesSelf-taught plastic artist, he started drawing and painting at home. In 2018 he began to participate in group exhibitions and explore himself more as a man of the arts who wanted to better understand the world he was dealing with, Das Ates Plásticas.
According to Eduardo Vueza, visual artist and author of the critical text, cited in the note, “this sample features the presence of five young artists, whose works reveal a very close relationship and mastery with the techniques presented by them. Their attentive look in the search around them for something that would attract them, also motivated by technical research for creations”
“Hednezer Roma, presents man’s dependence on machines. In this era of consumption, Kisha Kipito leads to critical reflection on excessive consumerism and waste. Also the concern of men to explore nature in a sustainable way, clearly evident in the work of Jardel Selele”, he adds.
Uólofe Griot, according to the critical text, is concerned about how artists are treated, that is, less valued. And with brushstrokes and strong strokes, Leandro Marques brings us the daily lives of communities. The sample welcomes artists with diverse influences for a harmonious exchange of knowledge and subjectivities. And in the midst of differences, they converge. The strokes convey messages, the conception, the proportionality of the strokes and combinatorial lines of the drawing, the finish and combination of colors, the visual effect, maturity and talent come together and present a final result that is a great contribution to the arts.
