After the UZ Leuven, the UZ Gent (107), the Cliniquesuniversiteits Saint-Luc in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe (147), the Erasmus hospital in Anderlecht (164) and the UZA (226) follow.

The top 250 best hospitals were created by the American magazine Newsweek, in collaboration with the website Statista, which specializes in data analysis, and include data from more than 2,400 hospitals spread across 30 countries. Each hospital’s score was based on an online survey of more than 85,000 medical experts and public patient survey data on their overall satisfaction after leaving the hospital. In the ranking per country, Belgium comes in eighteenth place.

United States

Notable: Although the American healthcare system is often criticized, four of the five best hospitals are in the United States and no country has more entries in the top 250 (43).

The best hospital in the world is the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, a group practice founded more than a hundred years ago that has grown into a top destination for people with difficult-to-treat conditions.
