ALMERE – During the night between Thursday and Friday heavy fireworks were set off in a house on the Kornwierde in Almere Buiten. This caused some windows to be destroyed, but no one was injured. A suspicious item was found in the same home Friday afternoon. That too was found to contain explosive material. The Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD) removed the object and detonated it at another location.
Police still don’t know why the fireworks exploded in front of the house. The research will also have to clarify whether there is a connection with previous explosions that occurred in the city of Flevoland.
There was an explosion in a residential complex at Bolacaciahof in Almere Stad on Wednesday evening. Ten homes were evacuated and no one was injured. One of the houses in the complex was immediately closed for two weeks. In mid-December, explosions occurred at houses on Freyjaplantsoen in Almere Poort and on Valetaweg in Almere Stad. For this, three people were arrested, including two teenagers. These explosions could be linked. There may also be a connection with the explosion that occurred in a house on Borneostraat (Almere Buiten).
