A fire is ongoing on the morning of Saturday, June 22, in a forest area in the area of Bisti, on the island of Hydra.
The fire started under unclear – so far – circumstances at around 22:40 on Friday 21 June. However, reports say it was caused by a boat launching fireworks.
According to a report on the “Seasonal Firefighters” Facebook page, “the fire, caused by a boat throwing fireworks, is burning the only pine forest on the island, in a difficult place, which has no road.”
Now the fire is burning scattered places and its image is better compared to the evening hours. Three firefighters, five volunteers, a fire service vehicle and an aerial helicopter are working to extinguish it.
