The president of the Central Reserve Bank (BCR), Douglas Rodríguez, reported that in the first quarter of this year El Salvador has grown economically by 2.6%, due to different factors, one of them being security.
«The fundamental factors that have generated this growth have been many, the most important: the security measures implemented by President Nayib Bukele; very successful and brave strategies that have generated a favorable security climate for growth and tourism,” said Rodríguez.
The official explained that this economic growth is also due to the development of international sporting events, the establishment of private investments, the increase in domestic and foreign tourism during Easter, among others.
“74% of economic activities, in the first quarter, have growth,” said the official.
Recreational services, government services, transportation, financial and insurance services, hotels and restaurants, electricity and trade are some of the 14 economic activities that experienced growth in the first quarter of this year.
It is important to mention that last year, in the same period of time, the country grew 1.8%.
