New functions push mails and online response to requests implemented

Vienna (OTS) The usage figures for FinanzOnline (FON) in the first quarter of 2024 show a significant increase in digital filings. At the end of the first quarter of 2024, as of March 31, 2024, a record number of 6,422,596 people were using the Ministry of Finance’s online platform for their tax matters. Of these, 5,653,886 are private individuals and 768,710 are companies.

In the area of private individuals, a rate of 85.4% is recorded. This corresponds to an overall increase of 6 percentage points compared to 2021. For the whole of 2024, the Austrian tax office expects around 3.2 million applications from private individuals to be submitted via FinanzOnline. In the area of SMEs, a very high acceptance of FinanzOnline is also evident, with a rate of 92.2% in the first quarter. 2.3 million applications are expected here for the whole year.

The FinanzOnline digital platform is also popular with older people: there are more than 900,000 users in the 65 to 94 age group. There are a remarkable 6,300 users among those over 95.

“The record usage figures for Finanz Online are a great success for the tax administration and a confirmation that our online platform is attractively designed. In addition, the digital innovations in FinanzOnline not only enable the Austrian tax office to work more efficiently, but also provide better service for citizens,” said Finance Minister Magnus Brunner.

New functions in FON bring push mails and online response to requests
As part of the digitization process, the Austrian tax office is continuously improving FinanzOnline. From now on, it is possible to respond to requests from the Austrian tax office via FON rather than by post. This means that the response is immediately in the system, the previous postal and scanning process is saved and the process is shortened by at least five days.

If account details are missing, automated push emails are created and requests are made to add them, for example if an application is received and the bank details are missing. This is an important contribution to shortening processing times.
In the future, residence permits will also be taken into account automatically through an interface to the BMI and therefore no longer need to be submitted separately.
