The Secretariat of Works and Services of the Mexico City has been published in the Official Gazette of the Mexico City a notice about the program guidelines emerging economic support intended for businesses affected by the reconstruction, rehabilitation and strengthening of the Metro Line 12. This support will be offered in a single exhibition to businesses located between the Los Olivos and San Lorenzo Tezonco stations.
The objective of this action is to mitigate the economic effects suffered by businesses due to the works that began on May 3, 2021. These works included the rehabilitation of a beam between clearings 106 and 107, which considerably affected merchants on Avenida Tláhuac between the stations. Calle Once and Zapotitlán, in the Tláhuac and Iztapalapa Mayor’s Offices.
The deployment of heavy machinery and equipment for the work caused a decrease in mobility in the area, affecting local economic activity. In July 2023, the Head of Government, Martí Batres, reported that, in a first phase, approximately 140 merchants from the Tláhuac mayor’s office They received financial support of 96 thousand pesos each to compensate for their losses.
Beneficiaries of financial support
The beneficiaries are people who carry out commerce in different aspects and who have suffered a decrease in income or are at risk of losing their source of employment due to reinforcement and rehabilitation works. Those businesses considered to have a zonal or neighborhood impact will not be eligible, such as parking lots, gas stations, commercial chains, lodgings, hospitals and medical clinicsaccording to the Law of Commercial Establishments for Mexico City.
Requirements for support
- Written request for financial support, signed by the affected person and part of the list of beneficiaries of Sedeco.
- Be registered in the Sedeco beneficiary registry.
- Do not belong to establishments with regional or neighborhood impact.
- Be physically located on Avenida Tláhuac, between Calle Once and Zapotitlán Station, Alcaldías Tláhuac and Iztapalapa.
- Comply with all the requirements and documentation established in the guidelines.
Necessary documents
- Valid official identification with photograph (voter ID).
- Valid proof of address (no older than three months).
- Registration certificate delivered by Sedeco.
- Free writing stating under oath that you are the owner of the establishment, the activity or commercial line carried out and the time it has been in operation at said address.
Application procedure
The registration and receipt of documentation will be carried out in the Module in charge of the General Directorate of Supply, Commerce and Distribution of Sedeco, located at Avenida Cuauhtémoc 899, Third Floor, Colonia Narvarte Poniente, Benito Juárez mayor’s office, CP 03020, Mexico City. Once guidelines publishedSedeco will register the applications in the registry of beneficiaries and will proceed to validate them in the area affected by the works on Line 12 of the Metro.
