Fight against pollution: Towards the establishment of waste sorting and recovery centers
Sorted and recovered waste are the gold mines of the 21st century.

Change in continuity. The Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development (MEDD), Max Fontaine Andonirina, continues the efforts made by his department, while bringing a touch of modernity.

The youngest member of the government presented, yesterday, to the press, the strategic axes of the activities that the ministry intends to carry out to meet the challenge of fighting against the harmful effects of climate change, knowing that Madagascar is one of the most vulnerable countries. These strategic axes include seven points, namely: sustainable economy and responsible society, sustainable financing, fight against pollution and climate change, reforestation, restoration and conservation of landscapes and forests, green diplomacy and partnerships, improved governance, information, education communication and research. More committed than ever to the fight against pollution, the MEDD plans a certain number of actions in the short and medium term. Among the imminent projects announced by Max Fontaine Andonirina, is the establishment of waste sorting and recovery centers in a certain number of localities.

General interest

The Atsinanana region will be the first to benefit from this project. For the capital, the first project site will be Avaradrano. Other large towns such as Antsiranana, Mahajanga and Toliara will also benefit from this project which will be carried out in partnership with the private sector. On this point, moreover, a call for expressions of interest will be launched to select future managers of waste sorting and recovery centers. “The projects will be carried out with an economic model adapted to the general interest”, said the minister. This revolutionary project will in any case be worth its weight in gold in the fight against pollution. Waste recovery has become a sector that can bring big returns.
