Fenenko’s second best playing time in the group stage; Young Latvians are placed eighth in the power rankings

Fenenko spent 101 minutes and 30 seconds on the ice in four games, which is an average of 25 minutes and 22 seconds per game. Only Norway’s Stian Sulberg played more, remaining on the ice for an average of 25 minutes and 58 seconds per game.

Given that Latvian hockey players remained goalless in the first three matches of the subgroup, Latvians are far from the top places in individual statistical indicators. The most productive player in the league is Servacs Petrovskis, the forward of the Slovak national team, who has scored five goals and provided four assists, while the American Gavin Brindley (6+2) has more precise shots.

Latvian ice hockey players made six out of 93 shots, taking last, tenth place with 6.45%. The Latvian national team also has the worst majority achievement (12.5%) and the second worst minority achievement (52.94%).

The Latvians are fourth in terms of attendance with an average of 6,729 spectators per match. In this index, all top five places are occupied by subgroup A teams that played in the largest arena of the “Scandinavium”, including hosts Sweden, whose matches were attended by an average of 11,512 spectators.

The Latvian Under-20 men’s hockey team placed eighth in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) “power ranking” ahead of the quarterfinals of the junior world championship.

The “Power Ranking” is a ranking created by the tournament organizers for the entertainment of hockey fans and the positions of the teams contained therein may not correspond to their actual positions in the ranking.

In the first three matches of the tournament, the Latvians did not score in matches against Sweden, Canada and Finland, but on Saturday they beat Germany 6-2. After Sunday’s matches it became known that the national team secured a place in the quarterfinals, where they will meet the United States on Tuesday.
