Female radio host against online hatred in Kashmir

In the era of social media, where every process is closely examined, women’s radio hosts (RJ) are facing a unique and continuous digital enmity in Indian -administered Kashmir. Which was once the source of a free and inconvenient conversation, it has now become a battlefield where the women behind the microphone are targeted simply because of their profession.

“I have the opportunity to talk about many social issues but I have a lot of fun and focus on entertainment, so it is a great platform,” Mahak Zubair told Urdu.

“My journey began to work as a news reporter for a news channel and then eventually there was auditions for Radio Murchi and I gave auditions and I am here after 7 years.”

RJ Mehk has emerged as a prominent voice, which has been an important part of the Kashmir radio scene for the past seven years.

The number of listeners and loved ones has increased over time, but their growing influence is also making them a permanent target of gender prejudice and ‘female enemy’ online attacks. Like other women, they are not just for their work but also for ‘their voice, appearance and private life’.

Opposition against the female radio host is more intense than male counterparts. While men are mostly criticized for their professional style, content or opinion, women are subjected to personal and gender attacks.

Comments on social media often focus on their shape, dress and speech style. Sometimes these attacks increase to such an extent that their role is raised, they are ‘regarded as a focus’, or are accused of deviation from cultural values.

The aroma added, ‘No, I have never felt a desire to leave. Whether it is very irritated or I have gone to the extent where I say okay I want to be separated from social media. ‘

It is not just a normal trolling but a continuation of the deep -folding pity thinking that women are not ready to see in public places, especially the media and the entertainment industry. In a conservative society, where women are already facing numerous obstacles, social media has further enhanced these challenges and turned digital platforms into a new field of gender surveillance.

The mental and emotional burden of this online abuse is deeply deep for many women. Continuous negative comments and fear of consequences in the real world are often forced to censor themselves.

Some women are reluctant to express any opinion, while some think of leaving the profession. This pressure increases even more when companies do not provide an effective system to protect their employees from online harassment.

“Yes, I mean there is no other way other than that, because there is no online future, but in the present era we are living in the world where everything is online and women have no way out of it, so cyber laws have to crack very hard, even hard to crack down on minor things like trolling.”

Some women RGs have begun to speak openly against online harassment and are demanding better digital protection measures. Demand for cyber laws and demand for institutional assistance is also increasing, but progress in this direction is slow.

Currently, his struggle is not just for his voice but also part of a wider war against gender hatred in the digital world.

In a society where women are still fighting for their identity and respect, these are not just entertaining personalities but a symbol of rebellion. Their voices are not only echoing in the atmosphere but also becoming part of a strong protest against social sanctions.
