From this Thursday until June 11, novelists, poets, journalists, essayists, storytellers, philosophers, scientists and columnists will participate in the first Valledupar Book Fair, Felva 2023, which will captivate lovers of literature in the capital of the Cesar and visitors.
Thanks to its varied programming, Felva 2023 will be the best plan to share with family and friends during the summer holidays, since for four days conversations, panels, talks, conferences and launches of books.
Likewise, there will also be spaces for addressing historical events, dialogues about the novel, the story, poetry, journalism; discussion about Venezuela, Gabriel García Márquez in the region, vallenato as a literary genre, the indigenous contribution, the challenges of women in today’s society and the importance of reading and writing in children and young people, among other topics of present.
We have been working for more than two months on the organization of this project with which the publishing house El Pilón, with the initiative of one of its directors Juan Carlos Quintero, seeks a new look for Valledupar in cultural issues without leaving aside Vallenato music as main artistic symbol of this territory.
It is a great challenge for this vallenato businessman who seeks with this literary fair to position himself as an important milestone in the city’s cultural agenda, and also to put himself on the radar of the country’s great literary events.

PARTICIPANTS
The First Valledupar Book Fair, Felva 2023, will have high-level participants who will undoubtedly make this experience in the capital of Cesar more special.
These are: the former Minister of Health and Education and former presidential candidate Alejandro Gaviria; the former vice president of the Republic, Humberto de la Calle Lombamana; the writer Carolina Sanín, the director of the Gabo Foundation, Jaime Abello; Vanessa Rosales, the journalist María Jimena Duzán, Javier Ortiz Cassiani, the philosopher Fernando Galindo, the editor Mario Jursich, Diana López Zuleta, Catalina Lobo Guerrero and Alfonso Sánchez Baute, the novelist and poet William Ospina, the academic and intellectual Moisés Wasserman, the cartoonist and columnist Vladdo.
Also confirming their attendance at Felva 2023 were the writer Luis Felipe Núñez Mestre, who recently won the Casa de las Américas International Award; Yenis Judith Muñoz Mindiola, from Riohacha; Lindantonella Solano Mendoza, Wayúu poet; Jairo Mejía Cuello, from Fundación, Magdalena; Aminta Beleño Gómez, from Valledupar.
Similarly, Carlos Cesar Silva, Luis Barros Pavajeau, Miguel Barrios Payares, Maria Angelica Pumarejo, Nelson Navarro, Amat Zuluaga War, Weildler War, Juan Jose Daza, Luis Mario Araújo, Gustavo Ramirez Ariza and Julio Oñate Martinez.
Among the scheduled activities, the talk “Soap operas and films about vallenato and its world” stands out, in which Cristina Gallego, renowned librettist, producer and film director, will participate, along with John Bolívar, actor and film and television director, and Deiler Díaz Arzuaga, director of Maderos Teatro de Valledupar.
In addition, a special discussion will be held where Vallenato writers Alonso Sánchez Baute and Javier Ortiz Cassiani will reflect on the city of Valledupar, under the title “Valledupar: two shores, one river.”
