The president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the top organization of businessmen, has expressed concern over the hostage situation of the Kabir Group-owned ‘MV Abdullah’ ship with 23 sailors in the hands of Somali pirates. Mahbubul Alam said, “The incident of ship hostages on international shipping routes is an obstacle to international trade.” He sought the cooperation of all concerned in rescuing the ship including 23 sailors.
Mahbubul Alam thanked the government for taking quick initiative to rescue the ship. He also expressed hope that the government will try to rescue the ship with 23 hostage sailors in a very short time.
FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam Kabir Group of Industries Managing Director Mohammad Shahjahan, Deputy Managing Director Shahriar Jahan spoke on the phone to express their grief and condolence over the incident as the cargo ship including 23 sailors were taken hostage and consoled them.
Meanwhile, FBCCI president praised the efforts of the owners to ensure the safety and rescue of the sailors. He expressed hope that soon Kabir Group of Industries will be able to overcome this loss.
On March 12, Somali pirates took the ‘MV Abdullah’ ship owned by SR Shipping Lines, a subsidiary of Kabir Steel and Re-Rolling Mill (KSRM) of Kabir Group of Industries, along with 23 sailors hostage in the Indian Ocean.
