Fatal hit and run: two pedestrians killed in Montreal

Two pedestrians lost their lives last night in a violent accident in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville neighborhood of Montreal.

The event occurred at 1.20am on Monday morning on Boulevard Henri-Bourrassa, near Boulevard de l’Acadie.

Investigators from the City of Montreal Police Service (SPVM) are on site to learn more about the circumstances of this event.

According to initial information, the two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle which then fled.

The two victims were identified by the police as soon as they arrived on site.

They were pronounced dead at the scene, but their identities remain unknown at this time.

The 23-year-old suspect was spotted by the dog unit after fleeing in the vehicle, then on foot.

The man was arrested and transported to hospital.

“When the suspect abandoned his vehicle on Boulevard Henri-Bourrassa, near Rue Dutrisac, he fled again on foot, but was quickly located and arrested by the police officer from the canine unit,” the spokeswoman said. SPVM Caroline Chèvrefils.
