Farmers / Engines are warming up in the blocks for the pan-agrarian descent in Athens on Tuesday

With the engines of the tractors on, the farmers are preparing their long descent to Athens for the pan-agricultural rally they have planned for next Tuesday (20/2), where they announce that a three-digit number of tractors will participate.

Despite the bans of the government and Chrysochoidis, who are trying to put a “block” on the general mobilization citing security issues, the farmers’ front does not back down and declares itself determined.

SYRIZA-PS is on the side of the agricultural demands, supporting their fair demands. Commenting on the government bans, Olympia Teligioridou, head of the party’s Agricultural Sector, noted that “across Europe, agricultural mobilizations took place on major highways and in state capitals.”

“In the Greece of Mr. Mitsotakis, this is prohibited. If the government does not want mobilizations to satisfy the fair demands of the farmers”, he added.

“There is a possibility of mobilizations. Where they can escalate and claim. I am in favor of asserting the demands of the citizens, I am not in favor of settling the diaries”, also clarified Socrates Famellos in the First Program.

It is noted that the provision for the advance payment of the refund of the Special Consumption Tax on agricultural oil has been submitted to the Parliament.

In the blocks the countdown to the descent

The farmers did not leave the blockades for a moment, sending a clear message to the government that they will not stop the struggle until their demands are met.

In Derveni, the farmers proceeded to a symbolic closure of the road, as a result of which traffic was interrupted in both directions.

Farmers in Florina continue their symbolic blockade of the Niki customs office at intervals throughout the day.

The Thessaloniki-Neon Moudania National Highway in Halkidiki, at the Portaria interchange, also remained closed, with farmers warning that the blockade may last the whole weekend in order to exert pressure to allow tractors to descend on the pan-agrarian rally in Athens .

Fifty tractors blocked the center of the city of Grevena, where the farmers went on a motorized march. They call on unions, associations and agencies to stand by and participate in their mobilizations, as, as they say, their fight concerns the survival of the entire local community.

The farmers of Western Macedonia are preparing their descent to the Greek capital, reinforcing with forces the block of the customs office of Niki on the border of Greece-North Macedonia, the block of Kastoria at the customs office and the building of the Region.

At the Niseli junction from 19:00 to 20:00 the farmers of Imathia were on Saturday afternoon with their tractors.

In Serres, the farmers symbolically closed Egnatia Odos for half an hour at the height of Strymonikos, where they remained with their tractors. It is noted that their coordinating body decided that the descent from Serres to Athens will be carried out by buses.

The farmers of Imathia from 19:00 to 20:00 on Saturday afternoon (17/2) will descend with their tractors at the Niseli junction.

The farmers of Serres proceeded with the symbolic closure of Egnatia Odos for half an hour at the height of Strymonikos where their tractors remain. Their coordinating body decided that they will go down to Athens for Tuesday’s rally by bus.
