Farmers are planning large-scale actions again tomorrow: “Closing all access roads to the port of Antwerp” (Antwerp)

Various WhatsApp groups with farmers (from West Flanders to Antwerp) are calling for a large-scale action on Tuesday. A “general mobilization” is announced, in which all access roads to the port of Antwerp would be closed.

The start is scheduled for Tuesday morning at 5 am, the farmers are thinking of a campaign of about 24 hours. If there are enough participants, the ports of Ghent and Zeebrugge could also be targeted (again). “But the focus is on Antwerp,” it sounds.

The farmers take to the streets because they say they have not been offered enough perspective and solutions. The farmers’ protest is now entering its third week. “Many farmers are not yet satisfied with what is currently on the table,” says Wim Moyaert, coordinator of Boerenforum.

“Farmers are not protesting to continue as they are today. They take to the streets because they want changes. And there is no price guarantee or income security yet. And the fact that the reduction of pesticides is being pushed aside is a very poor result for the farmer.”
