February 2016
On February 27, 2016, things went completely wrong in the monumental building on the corner of the Markt in Den Bosch, where the Pearl optician is located. Construction workers removed a dividing wall, causing the building to collapse. The wooden wall turned out to be a load-bearing wall, a mistake from 1992.

In 2014 two employees died in an accident at the Van de Reijt fertilizer factory in Waalwijk. One of the eight retaining walls collapsed, burying the two under concrete blocks. Cobouw, a construction industry newspaper, concluded that experts found “numerous construction errors” on old construction drawings.
