After stealing a woman’s cell phone, an alleged thief was arrested thanks to the identification provided by the cameras of the Municipality of Guatemala. The commune shared a video that shows how the man surprises a woman who was talking on the phone while she was waiting for a transportation service.
The Municipality highlighted that its personnel in charge of the video surveillance system coordinated the capture actions upon noticing the incident, which took place at a bus stop in zone 1 last Saturday, February 17, 2024.

The National Civil Police (PNC) confirmed the capture of the alleged thief and stressed that the images helped identify the detainee.
The agents from the 11th police station were in charge of carrying out the arrest of the man identified as Anderson “N”, 28 years old.
The PNC highlighted that in the video they were able to observe the physical features of the aggressor, as well as his modus operandi.
The detainee was transferred to the Court Tower to await his hearing and learn the reasons for his arrest.
For its part, the Municipality of Guatemala stated that the robbery against the woman occurred at the Paseo de las Letras Transmetro stop.
