Fact Check: Viral Video Claiming Kashmir Protester Shot is Actually from Bolivia

An old video of a clash between coca farmers and police in the South American country of Bolivia is being shared with the fake claim that the army has shot a stone-pelter in Kashmir.

Vishvas News found this claim to be false in its investigation. The viral video is not from Kashmir but from the South American country Bolivia. In 2022, during a clash between coca farmers and police in Bolivia, a bomb exploded in the hand of a protester. This same video is being made viral with a fake claim in the name of Kashmir.

The video sent to the tipline number of Vishvas News claims that a person was shot by the army in retaliation for throwing stones at an army jawan in Kashmir. To find the original source of the viral video, we took the help of reverse image search. In the search, we found this video on a YouTube channel named ‘Al Rojo Vivo’, which was uploaded on August 10, 2022.

According to the information given, “A coca producing farmer was injured by an explosive during a demonstration in Bolivia.”
