Fact Check: Viral Image of Rahul Gandhi with Wife and Kids On Social Media Debunked as False

The claim of Rahul Gandhi having a wife and children is fake and the picture going viral with this claim is of three school children from Madhya Pradesh, whom Rahul Gandhi met in Ujjain during the ‘Bharat Jodo’ Yatra and who had expressed their desire to travel by air with Rahul Gandhi during their conversation with him. Rahul Gandhi fulfilled this promise in Bundi, Rajasthan and gave the three students a helicopter ride of about 20 minutes.

New Delhi (Viswas News). A photo of Rahul Gandhi is going viral on various social media platforms, claiming that the woman and children seen in it are his alleged wife and children. Many users have shared this photo with the same claim on Vishwas News’ WhatsApp tipline number.

Vishvas News investigated and found this claim to be fake. The viral picture is related to Congress’s ‘Bharat Jodo’ Yatra in which he promised three children in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh that he would take them for a ride in a helicopter and he fulfilled this promise in Bundi, Rajasthan. The three school children who had expressed their wish to fly in a helicopter with Rahul Gandhi were called from Ujjain to Bundi and then they got a chance to fly in a helicopter with Rahul Gandhi.

Several users on Vishvas News tipline have also shared the same photo with the same claim, which says, “Wife Jonita Vinci, son Nohak Vinci, 19 years old, daughter Meenaik Vinci, 15 years old. The father is roaming around in India as a 56-year-old bachelor.”

To find out the truth of the claim made with the viral photo, it was necessary to find the original source of this photo. To do this, we took the help of reverse image search and in the search we found this photo in many old news reports.

After completing the yatra in Kota, Rahul Gandhi directly reached the helipad built in Gudli, Bundi. Three students from Ujjain, MP were waiting for him there. They had come to take a helicopter ride with Rahul Gandhi.”

Our investigation clearly shows that the viral photo is from the Bharat Jodo Yatra, when Rahul Gandhi met school children in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh and asked about their wishes. During this, the children expressed their wish to become pilots and travel in a helicopter, which he fulfilled in Bundi, Rajasthan.
