Fact Check: Rahul Gandhi did not give viral statement regarding Vaishya Samaj, this cutting is fake

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Amidst the Lok Sabha elections, newspaper cuttings of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s alleged statement are again going viral. Earlier it had gone viral during Rajasthan Assembly elections. In this newspaper cutting it was claimed that Rahul Gandhi compared the tradesmen community and businessmen to thieves.

Vishvas News investigated the viral cutting in detail. Investigation revealed that the viral newspaper cutting is completely fake. Facebook user Pankaj A Modi While sharing a newspaper cutting on April 30, he wrote, “Please join hands with all the Baniya Maheshwari, Jain Aggarwal, Vijayvargiya, Medatwal, Gujarati, Vaishya, Lingayat etc. of the country and request them to boycott the Congress.”

Using Rahul Gandhi’s picture, the headline was written in the newspaper: “Theft and profiteering are the habits of the country’s traders: Rahul Gandhi.”

Vishvas News has already investigated viral cutting once. On reading the newspaper cutting carefully, it was found that in the news Rahul Gandhi has been mentioned as the Congress President, whereas the present Congress President is Mallikarjun Kharge. In such a situation, the first indication was that viral cutting is not recent.

Google Open Search tool was used to take the investigation forward. On searching here with related keywords, we did not find any such news which could confirm the news published in the viral cutting. If Rahul Gandhi had given such a statement, it would have definitely appeared in the media.

On searching during investigation, we found a letter dated 4th April 2019. facebook post Found. It was shared by Facebook user ‘Satyendra Murali’ (archive link) was did. The title of the newspaper cutting used in this post and the title of the viral cutting in the name of Rahul Gandhi were the same. Vishvas News investigated and found the cutting of Amit Shah also proved to be fake. We did not find any such statement of Amit Shah as claimed in it.

During the search, we found a video on the official YouTube channel of Congress five years ago on 26 March 2019. Video found. It was told that Congress President Rahul Gandhi addressed the Jan Sankalp rally in Bundi, Rajasthan. At the time of the last Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi was the President of the Congress. We heard Rahul Gandhi’s Bundi speech in full. We did not hear anything like viral cutting in this speech.

During a previous investigation, Vishvas News had spoken to Rajasthan Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi regarding the viral post. While giving information, he had said that Rahul Gandhi had never given such a statement as claimed in the viral cutting. This is completely fake. Rahul Gandhi is not even the president of the party at present. This fake cutting is being spread to tarnish his image.

Conclusion: In the investigation of Vishvas News, the viral newspaper cutting was proved to be fake. Rahul Gandhi did not make any such statement regarding Vaishya community and businessmen, as claimed in the viral post.
