Fact Check: Pakistani flag was not hoisted in Bareilly after election results, viral post is fake

Vishwas News searched on Google Open Search Tool by creating keywords based on the viral post. We did not find a single news that could confirm that Pakistani flags were hoisted in Bareilly after the Lok Sabha elections.

Taking the investigation further, the e-paper of Dainik Jagran, Bareilly was scanned. There we found a news published on 7th June. In this news it was told, “A video posted on X account caused a stir on Thursday. A person posted that Bareilly became Pakistan. As soon as Samajwadi Party won 37 seats in Uttar Pradesh, people hoisted the flag of Pakistan in Bareilly. The police also kept standing and watching. Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, Bareilly News were hashtagged with the post.”

The news further stated, “The police immediately became active. After investigation, they said that the video is very old, which at first glance is from the time of a procession. There is no proof that the video is from Bareilly, which is being said to be the flag of Pakistan. That is the flag carried during the procession. SSP Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan said that the video is misleading. After the elections, one or two such incidents have come to light, which were said to be related to Bareilly. They turned out to be baseless in the investigation.”

During the search, the viral video was found with a false claim Instagram Handle It was also found on . While uploading it on 19 May, it was written that Bareilly became Pakistan.

Taking the investigation further, the difference between the Pakistani and Islamic flags was observed. A comparative study was done. We found out that the Pakistani flag has a white stripe, while the Islamic flag is completely green.

The investigation so far has proved two things. First, the viral video is from before the results of the Lok Sabha elections. Second, this is not a Pakistani flag, but an Islamic flag. Vishvas News does not independently confirm which city the viral video is from.

Bareilly SSP Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan said that the viral post is misleading. There has been no incident involving Pakistani flags in Bareilly. Action will be taken against those who spread lies.

At the end of the investigation, the user who posted the fake post was investigated. Social scanning of the ex-handle Father Peter revealed that this account was created in May 2024.

Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral post of waving Pakistani flag in Bareilly is fake. Some people are making a video related to Islamic flag viral with a false claim.
