Fact Check: Fake post made viral to spread propaganda against Rahul Gandhi

This post has been made viral many times before.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Once again a post is going viral in the name of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s ex-post. It is claimed that Rahul Gandhi has posted about the Citizenship Bill from Wayanad. Believing it to be true, it is being made viral on different platforms of social media.

Vishvas News investigated the viral post. It was proved to be fake. Our investigation proved that Rahul Gandhi has not made any such post, as is being claimed in the viral post. This post has been made viral many times before.

Facebook user Vishwajeet Thakur On June 18, a fake X-post screenshot went viral. It claimed that Rahul Gandhi had tweeted this from Wayanad. Using Rahul Gandhi’s photo and the ABP News logo, it was written quoting Rahul Gandhi, “Rahul Gandhi’s tweet, By passing the Citizenship Bill, BJP is following the agenda of Hindu Rashtra. The agenda of our ancestors has always been on Islamic country. That is why we created two Islamic countries. Pakistan and Bangladesh. Now we cannot see India becoming a Hindu Rashtra.”

investigation

Vishvas News first used Google Open Search Tool to find out the truth of the viral post in the name of Rahul Gandhi. Keywords were created and searched based on the viral post. We did not find any news that confirms the truth of the viral claim.

During the search, we found many old posts on Facebook which were created using the content of the viral post.

Vishwas News took a closer look at the viral post while investigating. We found basic Hindi mistakes in it. The viral post was made in such a way that the viewers would think that it is a news channel’s post. The picture of Rahul Gandhi used in it has been cut-pasted from somewhere.

Taking the investigation further, we searched the viral post on Rahul Gandhi’s ex-handle. We did not find any such post there either. Rahul Gandhi had posted a post on 10 December 2019 regarding the Citizenship Amendment. It can be seen below.

During Google search, many news were found about Rahul Gandhi and Citizenship Amendment Bill. Published on NDTV website on 10 December 2019 the news A statement by Rahul Gandhi was mentioned in the news. In this, he said that this bill is an attack on the Constitution. Supporting this bill would be an attempt to destroy the foundation of India. It is worth noting that the Citizenship Amendment Bill has been approved in the Lok Sabha. Under this, people of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi, Jain and Christian communities who have come to India after being persecuted from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh can apply for Indian citizenship. However, no mention of the viral claim was found in the news.

Vishwas News furthered the investigation and contacted Girish Kumar of Congress’s social media team. The viral post was shared with him. He told that Rahul Gandhi never said anything about the viral post. Neither did he post any such social media post. The IT cell people are deliberately making such fake posts because they do not have any issues to talk about.

At the end of the investigation, the user who posted the false claim was verified. Facebook user Vishwajeet Thakur lives in Sri Ganganagar. No more information was found about this account.

Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral post in the name of the Congress MP is fake. He never made any such statement. The viral post has been created by misuse of the logo of the news channel.
