Vishvas News investigated the viral post in detail. It was found that PM Modi did not appeal to boycott foreign goods. PM Modi often talks about self-reliant India. Under this, he definitely promotes local products. On 28 June 2020, PM Modi appealed to the people in his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and said that buying local goods is a kind of national service. PM Modi has never said this, as claimed in the viral post using his name.

Facebook user Kanhaiya Lal Tripathi posted a message in the name of PM Modi Post On September 4, a post with a picture of PM Modi read, “Dear friends, your Prime Minister is saying something. Tomorrow if China takes over India, we ourselves will be responsible for it. The British also enslaved us by trading in India. We were illiterate then but today we are wise. Adopt Swadeshi and save the country. If all Indians do not buy any foreign goods for 90 days, India can become the second richest country in the world. Vishwas News has already investigated the message used in the viral post once. Vishwas News first used Google Open Search Tool. We did not find any news anywhere in which PM Modi or the central government appealed to boycott foreign goods. However, many such news were found in which there was talk of promoting local products while talking about self-reliant India.
While opening Google search, we got to News 18 website. a news Found. This news published on 1 November 2021 stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi keeps appealing to the public to promote the use of indigenous products and to be vocal for local. Vishwas News furthered the investigation and searched for PM Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program in which he had appealed to the countrymen to buy local goods. PM Modi further says, “All our efforts should be in this direction, so that the country’s strength increases to protect the borders, the country becomes more capable, the country becomes self-reliant – this will also be a true tribute to our martyrs. Rajni ji from Assam has written to me – after seeing what happened in eastern Ladakh, she has taken a vow. The vow is that she will buy only local. Not only this, she will also be vocal for local.”
In Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi further says, “No mission can be completed or successful without public participation, that is why, as citizens, our resolve, dedication and cooperation towards self-reliant India is very important and essential. Vishvas News also contacted Dainik Jagran’s National Bureau Chief Ashutosh Jha regarding the viral post. Giving information, he said, “PM Modi has never talked about boycotting foreign goods. He promotes Swadeshi, but has not made any statement about boycotting goods from China or any other country.”
