Fact Check: Explosion During Syria Funeral Video Falsely Shared as Israeli Action in Hamas Palestine

New Delhi (Viswas News). Many users have shared a video on Vishvas News’ tipline number, in which an explosion can be seen during a funeral. It is being claimed that this video is from Palestine, where Israel returned the body of a terrorist to Palestine after placing a bomb in it and then many others were killed in the explosion during his funeral.

Vishvas News found this claim to be false in its investigation. The video going viral is not from Palestine but from Syria, where an explosion took place during the funeral.

To find the original source of the viral video, we took the help of reverse image search. After extracting the key frames of the video with the help of in-vid tool and reverse imaging it, we found this Video Found on ABC.net.au website, uploaded on 2 July 2012.

According to the information given with the report, “This is of an explosion that took place during a funeral near the Syrian capital Damascus.” In the search, we got the same video from NBC News.com. Report was also found in, which was shared in the same context on July 2, 2012.

Our investigation clearly shows that the viral video is not related to Israel and Palestine, but is from an incident in Syria in 2022. Israeli fact checker Uria Bar Mer was contacted regarding the viral video. He confirmed, “This is not an incident related to Israel.”
