Fact Check: A video from Argentina is being made viral by claiming it to be an SC/ST rally

New Delhi (Viswas News). A video is going viral on social media in which a huge crowd can be seen on a road. The post is claiming that this is of a Bhim Army rally in Shivpuri in 2018.

Vishvas News in its investigation found that this video is actually from Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, and is from when Argentine football fans celebrated Argentina’s World Cup win on December 18, 2022.

What is the viral post?

Instagram user adarsh_kumar_2027 (archive link) posted the video on August 20, 2024, with the caption, “Scene from 2nd April 2018, Sc/st reservation protest, Bhim Army Shivpuri.”

To verify the viral post, we searched the screenshots of this video on Google Lens. We found this video uploaded on ESPN FC’s official YouTube channel on 20 December 2022. Along with it was written, “4 MILLION people in the streets of Argentina”

We also got many news about this victory. According to the news, Argentina defeated France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar and won the World Cup for the third time. To celebrate this victory, people gathered in large numbers at the Obelisk monument in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 20 December and celebrated this victory. More news on this matter can be read here.

After this, we looked at the area around the obelisk on Google Earth. On a path leading to this monument, we found the location of the viral video, which can be seen here.

We spoke to Dainik Jagran’s sports editor Abhishek Tripathi regarding the viral post. He confirmed that this video is from Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, when Argentine football fans celebrated Argentina’s victory in the 2022 World Cup.

The viral video was shared by an Instagram handle named adarsh_kumar_2027. The user has around 36000 followers.
