Fabio Di Giannantonio Out of 2024 Austrian MotoGP Due to Shoulder Dislocation

SPIELBERG – Pertamina Enduro VR46 team racer, Fabio Di Giannantonio, is confirmed to be absent from MotoGP Austria 2024 after experiencing a dislocated left shoulder due to an accident during a training session. The incident occurred during training at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, Austria, Friday (16/8/2024).

Di Giannantonio actually performed quite well throughout the practice session. However, at turn 8, the Italian rider lost control of his bike, causing him to fall and slide hard into the gravel area. As a result of the accident, Di Giannantonio was unable to continue the session and was immediately taken to the medical center for treatment.

After undergoing further examination at the hospital, the 25-year-old rider was diagnosed with a dislocated left shoulder. The Pertamina Enduro VR46 team decided to withdraw Di Giannantonio from the race so he could focus on his recovery.

Team manager Pedro Nieto confirmed that Di Giannantonio is undergoing intensive treatment with the hope of recovering quickly and appearing in the next race.

“He had a pretty serious accident and unfortunately couldn’t race due to the injury to his shoulder. Right now, he has to undergo further examinations,” said Nieto, quoted from the official MotoGP website, Saturday (17/8/2024).

“We decided it was better for him to focus on his recovery. Hopefully he will be fit for the next race, but for now he has to go back and get treatment in hospital,” Nieto continued.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Austrian MotoGP series continues with the qualifying session and Sprint Race held today at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, before the main race which is scheduled to take place on Sunday (18/8/2024) evening WIB.
