The Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA), within the scope of the “Kilamba for Christ” project, carried outthis weekendin the centrality of Kilamba, the 1st edition of the «Expo Saúde», having served a total of 686 patients with various pathologies.
The activity, which lasted 10 hours, provided residents of that area with blood glucose testing, deworming, malaria testing, blood pressure control, dengue testing, among other services.
In addition to the free consultations, 65 sets of mosquito nets were also delivered to pregnant women (12), mothers with babies (20) and the elderly (33). The Expo coordinator, Dr. Jorge Eduardo says that the professionals were divided into three areas, namely medical consultations, laboratories and, finally, psychological counseling.
«Of the 686 patients treated, we diagnosed 45 with hypertension and 10 with diabetes. Serious cases were immediately referred to hospitals in the region, but are under the control of our professionals. And, on the other hand, we will return to Kilamba before the end of the current year», assures Jorge Eduardo.
Along with IASD professionals, the «Expo Saúde» was attended by staff from the National Institute of Medical Emergencies of Angola (INEMA) who acted promptly in the evacuation of some hypertensive patients.
Meanwhile, five doctors, four nurses, an equal number of clinical analysis technicians and a psychologist were the team that supported the event that took place in the block (C).
It should be noted that the Southern Mission of Luanda and Cabinda is the body of the Seventh-day Adventist Church that coordinates the churches in the municipalities of Belas, Talatona, Kilamba Kiaxi, Quiçama, Viana (south), Samba Urban District and the southern part of Maianga Urban District.
