Exemption from customs and regulatory tasks on onion import –

The Nationwide Board of Income (NBR) has issued a notification exempting customs responsibility and regulatory responsibility on imported onions.

This knowledge used to be introduced in a notification signed by means of Abdur Rahman, Chairman of the Nationwide Board of Income on Wednesday (November 6). This facility will stay in drive until January 15, 2025.

Onion import has 5 % customs responsibility and 5 % regulatory responsibility. Thru this notification, the importers were given exemption from regulatory and customs tasks. In consequence, there is a chance to import responsibility loose onions within the nation.

Previous, in September, the Ministry of Trade proposed to NBR to withdraw the import responsibility on onions, potatoes and eggs to scale back costs.

In September, one kg of imported onion used to be bought at Tk 100-110 and home onion at Tk 110-120. Later, the import responsibility used to be diminished from 10 % to five % to scale back costs.
