Ex-EMERCOM employee accused of taking bribes in Pavlodar region

On June 17, Court No. 2 of the city of Pavlodar considered a criminal case against the head of the department of the Industrial Safety Committee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Pavlodar region. He is accused of receiving a bribe of more than one million tenge, Liter.kz reports with reference to the Pavlodar Regional Court.

From December 2021 to November 2023, an employee of the department of the Industrial Safety Committee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a bribe in the amount of 1 million 399 thousand tenge from the chief technical manager of KSP Steel LLP.

“The bribe is intended for general patronage during industrial safety inspections. And also for failure to bring to administrative responsibility for failure to comply with the requirements, resolutions and instructions of this government body. T.’s guilt, in addition to his full confession, is confirmed by the evidence collected in the case,” the court said.

The court took into account that T. admitted guilt and repented, and also had no previous convictions. At the same time, the court recognized the violation of the oath of a civil servant taken as an aggravating circumstance. Taking this into account, he was sentenced to imprisonment for three years.

He is also deprived for life of the right to hold positions in the civil service, in government organizations and in the quasi-public sector.

He is assigned to serve his sentence in a medium-security penal system.

The verdict did not enter into legal force.
