The new film “Everybody Loves Toda”, by Moroccan director Nabil Ayouch, was chosen to represent Morocco during the next session of the Cannes International Film Festival, which will be held from May 14 to 25.

Nabil Ayouch’s tape will be shown in the festival’s official competition in the “Cannes Premiere” category. This is the first time that Morocco has been selected in this category reserved for big names in the world of international cinema.

Moroccan actress Nesrine Radi plays the main role in the movie “Everyone Loves Toda,” after Nabil Ayouch renewed his confidence in her. She personifies the role of a woman who dreams of only one thing, which is to become a “sheikha,” and she performs every evening in the bars of her small rural town in the hope of ensuring… A better future for her and her son, but after being subjected to mistreatment and humiliation, she decides to leave everything for the sake of the lights of Casablanca, and events follow after that.

It is worth noting that the long tape, “Everyone Loves Toda,” was produced by Nabil Ayouch’s “Alayan” company, in partnership with production companies from France, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway. It will be shown in Moroccan cinema halls after an international tour of major festivals.

This new nomination for the owner of “Ali Zawa” came after his wife, director Meriem Touzani, was chosen to represent Morocco at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019 with the film “Adam,” and in 2022 with the film “Blue Caftan.”
