Every time we meet, Kjerringøy

Nettavisen: This year’s season of “Hver gang vi møtes” is taking place on the television screen these days, where Saturday after Saturday viewers will be able to get to know this year’s group of Norwegian artists better.

The seven artists will perform each other’s songs, but will also be happy to talk about the ups and downs of their careers.

Opening up to up to six new people you’ve just met, plus Norwegians possibly, can be scary for many. This is exactly what Highasakite singer Ingrid Håvik (36) also knew.

When Nettavisen met the seven artists during the recording of the program last summer, Håvik could say that he had acted before traveling to Kjerringøy for the recording.

Invited for coffee

Håvik could say he didn’t know any of the other artists before he left to record.

He then took matters into his own hands and contacted two of the other participants for coffee, so as not to show up without knowing anyone.

– I chose to have coffee with Emelie (Hollow) and Tom (Matoma) before arriving so that I wouldn’t be on completely bare ground when I got here, said the Highasakite singer.

– I think it might be a little too overwhelming, so I met them for coffee before I left, he continued.

He keeps it private

However, it won’t just be the “Every time we meet” artists who will get to know Håvik better this season. Of course, viewers and “all” of Norway will get a taste of it too, when her day comes later in the season.

During his years as an artist, Håvik has been very reserved, and when asked what it will be like to open up more in the program, the artist answers bluntly:

– I’m not used to talking so much. I don’t speak at concerts and I’m short and brutal in interviews, she said, laughing.

– I thought it was very nice to be reserved. So this is going to be different, and I just have to dive in and see how it turns out,” she continued.

The 36-year-old denies that this has dampened anyone’s desire to take part in the programme, and says it is up to each artist to decide how much they want to share in the episode about themselves.

– It’s up to me where I set my limits. It comes quite naturally where these boundaries lie. For example, I don’t want to talk about my marriage or my children, there are things like that that I want to keep “at home”, she said.

“Every time we meet” is seen every Saturday on TV 2.
