European Union privileges Huíla business community with investment

The European Union (EU) will make available, in the coming months, 13 million Euros, to encourage the Huila business community to create a chamber of commerce with Angola, with the aim of strengthening economic relations, announced this Wednesday (24) , in the municipality of Humpata, its ambassador to Angola, Tomás Ulicny.

Funding will be directed to new areas of cooperation. Member states are interested in investing in commercial sectors. For us, the EU, health, professional training, agriculture and job creation are priorities in which we are very interested, he said.

He highlighted that the visit made to the Tchivinguiro Medium Agrarian Institute, the Neves Dam and the Humpata Irrigated Perimeter, where he held a meeting with local businesspeople, served to assess the province’s potential.

Businessman João Saraiva stated that, in addition to the transfer of knowledge and technology, any visit that enhances and helps resolve some problems facing the local business community is welcome.

In addition to this investment, the European Union will provide around 65 million Euros to implement a drought resilience program in three provinces in southern Angola.
