Euro 2024 wonderkid Arda Guler is doubtful about appearing when Türkiye meets Portugal

DORTMUND – The coach of the Turkish national team, Vincenzo Montella, doubts the possibility of Arda Guler appearing against Portugal. Apart from experiencing fatigue, Montella is also considering playing his wonderkid Real Madrid it was in another match.

Türkiye will face Portugal in the second match of Group F Euro 2024 . The match took place at Signal Iduna Park, Saturday (22/6/2024) at 23.00 WIB.

In this match, Türkiye was not favored to win. Because, in the last five matches, Ay-Yıldızlılar – nicknamed the Turkish National Team – could only achieve one win, while the rest suffered defeats against Portugal.

Nevertheless, Türkiye performed well at Euro 2024 after winning 3-1 over Georgia. These results put Türkiye in the top position, while Portugal is in second place with the same points, namely three.

Facing Portugal, Arda Guler will be in the spotlight. Apart from contributing one goal in the previous match, he also succeeded in breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s record as the youngest goalscorer at the Euros.

Vincenzo Montella admits Arda Guler has an extraordinary goal percentage. Of his three shots, one resulted in a goal.

“His goal scoring percentage is very impressive. He scored at least one goal from every three shots,” said Vincenzo Montella, quoted from the official UEFA website, Saturday (22/6/2024).

Furthermore, Vincenzo Montella said that it was not difficult to give direction to a talented player like Arda Guler. However, he wants his players to be 100 percent ready to appear against Portugal.

“It is not difficult to manage talented players like that. However, we need them in 100 percent physical condition,” he said.

Vincenzo Montella explained that Arda Guler was a little tired, so it was doubtful he would be able to appear. He is also considering the next matches.

“He is a little tired and we are also considering the next matches. We will evaluate whether he will be in the first team or come into the match later,” he concluded.
