“Dilutions are a downer”
Vienna (OTS/SK) – “It is pleasing that, after tough negotiations, an agreement has finally been reached on the EU Supply Chain Act. This is a success for the sensible forces in Europe,” says SPÖ European spokesman Jörg Leichtfried. A major downer, however, is the dilution of content, which further significantly limits the number of companies that have to comply with the rules. “It is a real shame that the ÖVP-Green government did not agree to this minimal compromise,” said Leichtfried. ****
“The ÖVP and Labor Minister Kocher are pursuing pure patronage politics for corporate interests at the expense of children’s and human rights. “Unfortunately, the Greens just watched helplessly during this blockade policy,” criticizes Leichtfried. Fortunately, the ÖVP in the EU was unable to prevent the law. “The ÖVP is also acting against thousands of Austrian SMEs that already operate socially and ecologically sustainably and benefit from a supply chain law that puts a stop to cheap production by corporations through child or forced labor.” (Conclusion) ah/lp
