The top representatives of the European Union condemned the last attacks with Russian missiles and drones against Ukraine, interpreting them as proof of the lack of will of President Vladimir Putin to negotiate.
“Once again, the Kremlin mocks diplomacy, tramples international law and kills indiscriminately,” said the message published on Sunday the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in X.
For his part, the president of the European Council, António Costa, wrote on the same platform as “to talk about peace while bombing intensify and government buildings and homes are attacked: this is the Putin version of the ‘peace’.”
NEW PACKAGE OF SANCTIONS
Both EU representatives also pointed out that during the weekend, a package of sanctions against Russia for the war in Ukraine was continued. They are expected to be completed in a proposal for legal acts in the next few days, which must then be approved by the governments of the 27 EU member states.
The possible options of new punitive measures are recently included new tariff increases and import prohibitions of Russian products, as well as additional sanctions to actors from other countries that benefit from the Moscow War against Ukraine. In addition, a more determined approach is expected against the so -called Russian ghost fleet, which eludes energy sanctions, and against the Russian financial sector. This is also intended to prevent transactions from being carried out more and more through cryptocurrencies. Source: news
