LH Mikl-Leitner, President Ecker: Responsibility for employees and the region is a decisive factor
St. Pölten (OTS) – The Lower Austrian business agency ecoplus and the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce are awarding the “Ethos Award” for the first time to companies in Lower Austria that show a high degree of social responsibility and extraordinary social commitment – companies can submit their projects until June 30th at www.ethos-award .at submit. “Social commitment cannot be valued highly enough at a company level. We are looking for Lower Austrian entrepreneurs who take responsibility – not only in their company and for their employees, but also for their region and for the people who live there. The Ethos Award 2024 is the opportunity to make commitment visible to the outside world and thus encourage others to do more in these areas,” said State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and WKNÖ President Wolfgang Ecker.
“The aim of the Ethos Award is to give Lower Austrian companies a stage by honoring outstanding projects and to present their commitment to the public. This is not a monetary award with prize money, but rather we want to bring committed companies to the fore and give them the public recognition they deserve. Together we want to make our business location strong and lead it into the future with ideas that demonstrate commitment and responsibility,” emphasizes State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner.
WKNÖ President Wolfgang Ecker emphasizes: “Being an entrepreneur means more than just being economically successful. Our Lower Austrian entrepreneurs take responsibility: They make a contribution in the region, for their community or when an association needs support. Because entrepreneurship also means commitment. And it is precisely this voluntary commitment that we honor with the Ethos Award.”
The Ethos Award is presented in the categories: youth promotion, art & culture, regional commitment and sport. The professional jury consists of seven personalities with a connection to Lower Austria: ecoplus managing director Helmut Miernicki, WKNÖ deputy director Alexandra Höfer and Sky du Mont, actor, native of Lower Austria and experienced juror, evaluate all projects. In addition, each category has an expert juror: Jakob Dusek, snowboard cross world champion, was won for sport, Kristina Sprenger, chairwoman of the Theaterfest Niederösterreich association and director of the Berndorf City Theater, for art & culture, and Nina Blum, director, for youth development Director of the Lower Austria Fairy Tale Summer, and for regional commitment Christian Helmenstein, regional economics expert. The Ethos Award will be presented at a ceremony on October 1st in St. Pölten.
“As the state’s business agency, it is our job to support Lower Austrian companies with advice and support. This also includes giving a platform to companies that are socially committed. With the Ethos Award we honor business owners who not only pursue economic interests, but are also ahead of their time, break new ground, take on social responsibility and offer innovative solutions,” informs ecoplus Managing Director Helmut Miernicki.
For WKNÖ Deputy Director Alexandra Höfer it is clear: “Our 23 district and branch offices continually report on great projects that companies are implementing or supporting in their region. I am very impressed by this extraordinary commitment! That’s why I’m even more pleased about the appreciation that these companies receive with the Ethos Award.”
