Erdogan-Zelensky meeting in Istanbul, proposal for peace talks – 2024-03-10 03:18:03

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met in Istanbul. After the discussion, Erdoğan said that Turkey is ready to organize a conference with Ukraine and Russia to stop the war.

The two heads of state met on Friday (March 8). Erdogan is maintaining a balanced relationship with Moscow and Kiev during the two-year war. Erdogan also mentioned what kind of facilities Turkey can provide in the peace talks between the two countries.

The Turkish president said, “While we continue our solidarity with Ukraine, we will continue our work for a negotiated end to the war.”

Zelensky said in a post on social media that there were fruitful discussions. However, he did not say anything about Erdogan’s proposal for peace talks.

Moreover, Zelensky thanked Erdogan for his efforts in the release of Ukrainian soldiers held captive in Russia.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has commented that the cease-fire agreement in Gaza during Ramadan is very difficult. He also expressed concern over the ongoing violence in East Jerusalem.
