Erdogan should have announced, Kiev at the last moment… – 2024-04-28 20:51:09

Russia and Ukraine, brokered by Turkey, almost reached an agreement on the safety of shipping in the Black Sea, but Kiev changed its mind at the last minute to approve it.

Publika.az “Reuters” reported on this.

It is reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was supposed to announce the agreement on March 30, and before that the negotiations lasted for two months.

As noted in the message, the UN called for the conclusion of an agreement on navigation safety, among other issues. The Black Sea remains the most important route for the delivery of Ukrainian and Russian food to world markets.

The interlocutors of “Reuters” claim that the parties have agreed on the text of the agreement “ensuring the security of commercial shipping in the Black Sea”.

“However, at the last minute, Ukraine unexpectedly changed its mind and the agreement was broken,” writes Reuters citing one of its sources.

“Reuters” sources do not know the reasons why Kiev refused the agreement.

The text states that Moscow and Kiev guarantee the safety of merchant ships in the Black Sea and undertake not to attack, seize or search them.
