According to the data of the ERGANI system, of the Ministry of Labour, in 2023, the hiring-dismissal balance was positive and almost triple that of 2022.
Overall, there were far more hires and almost the same number of layoffs.
However, the recording of unemployment by ELSTAT shows that its rate has risen in Epirus with more recent data from the third quarter of ΄23, according to which, Epirus records an unemployment rate of 15.4%, the second in the whole country.
It is even higher than previous measurements. An important feature of it is that the labor force rate has risen to 50%, a somewhat encouraging development, taking into account the fact that Epirus generally has an aging and small population. In absolute numbers, in the third quarter of 2023, 122,100 people were employed in Epirus and 22,300 were unemployed.
The balance
Regarding the ERGANI system and the whole of 2023, the data are as follows:
For 2023 in Arta we had 11,891 hires, 11,447 departures (+444 jobs).
In Thesprotia we had 13,195 hires, 12,736 departures (+459 jobs).
In Ioannina we had 46,892 hires, 45,422 departures (+1470 jobs).
In Preveza we had 18,823 hires, 18,223 departures (+600 jobs).
In total, 90,801 new hires were made in Epirus, compared to 87,828 departures, which means 2,973 more jobs.
The corresponding figure for 2022 was 1,107.
However, the qualitative data of the measurements show interest that, for example, the fixed-term contracts that expired this year in Epirus, were significantly increased compared to last year and that the rest of the contracts were at approximately the same levels.
