Anthony Joshua has never made a secret of his desire to become the first billionaire boxer. Currently, his wealth has increased significantly in the last seven years.

Joshua made another breakthrough after recovering from consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk. The British boxer recently improved his reputation by winning four consecutive wins.

His last victory came when he defeated UFC fighter Francis Ngannou in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. So far he has a record of 28 wins and three losses in the 31 fights he has fought.

How Anthony Joshua first became known

Anthony Joshua first became known as a talented boxer when he won the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics. At that time, his popularity skyrocketed and he confidently climbed the ladder of success in the boxing ring.

In an interview with GQ in April 2017, Joshua really showed off his accomplishments. At that time, he was preparing for a fight against Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium, which he won by knockout.

Joshua admitted that initially he just wanted to make millions. But over time, his goals changed.

“When I first started, the goal was to become a multimillionaire. But now there are ordinary people, grandmothers and grandfathers, who are worth millions just because of property prices. So the new thinking is that I have to become a billionaire. Being a millionaire is great, but you have to set goals higher,” said Joshua at that time.

Joshua has set his sights high, revealing his financial goals. “If I make £10m from my next fight, my next target should be to make ten times that. And if I make £100m-150m, why not go after a billionaire? I know hardworking billionaires are hard, but it’s possible, said Joshua.

Joshua’s wealth is currently known to have increased rapidly. According to data revealed by the Sunday Times Rich List quoted from the Daily Star, Tuesday (11/6/2024), the 34-year-old boxer’s net worth reached 175 pounds sterling or approximately IDR 3.6 trillion.

That’s a pretty impressive number, although it’s still far from the main target. Joshua’s wealth was not only obtained from the boxing ring. There are several other deals that make him a lot of money, such as exclusive partnerships with streaming services, bagging roles as a shareholder, special advisor and brand ambassador.

If we refer to the list of the richest people in England under 40 years old, AJ is in 17th place with actor Harry Styles. AJ managed to beat a number of big names such as Andy Murray (100 million pounds) and Harry Kane (75 pounds).
