Dharamshala: England cricket team players met Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Wednesday ahead of the fifth and final Test match against India in Dharamshala. The England Cricket Board (ECB) shared a photo of British players seeking blessings from the spiritual leader on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.
“It was an incredible honor to meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama, joined by the England players and management at his residence in McLeodganj, Dharamshala,” the ECB wrote on Twitter. In the picture, Jack Crowley and Ollie Pope were seen with the Dalai Lama along with members of the England team management.
England have suffered three consecutive defeats in the series, having been unable to capitalize on an early 1-0 lead after a narrow win in Hyderabad. The visitors had chances, especially in Rajkot and Ranchi, but India came back strongly to win on both the occasions.
The fifth and final Test match will begin on March 7 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala and end on March 11, 2024. Despite the series being decided in Dharamsala, India and England still have World Test Championship points up for grabs. India are on top of the World Test Championship standings while England are placed eighth in the points table. (ANI)
