End of examination of medicines sent to Gaza and hostages in Kerem Shalom

Our correspondent said the medicine trucks arrived at the Rafah crossing about half an hour ago.

Hamas on Wednesday announced conditions for bringing medicines to hostages held in the Gaza Strip, refusing Israel to inspect the trucks that will transport them.

On Tuesday it was announced that Franco-Qatari mediation managed to reach an agreement between Israel and Hamas which provides for “the introduction of medicines and the sending of humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip, especially in the most affected and damaged areas, in exchange for the delivery of the necessary medicines” by the hostages.

Hamas Political Bureau member Musa Abu Marzouk revealed new conditions for the movement to deliver medicines to hostages, as he said through his account on the “X” platform: “We have set several conditions: for each box of medicines ( for the hostages) there are a thousand (boxes) for our people” in the Gaza Strip.

Among the conditions, according to Abu Marzouk, there is also that of “supplying the medicine through a country we trust” and not through France.

Abu Marzouk confirmed that among the conditions was “preventing the inspection of medical shipments by the enemy Israeli army.”

All humanitarian trucks entering the Gaza Strip are subject to Israeli inspection before entering the border area between Egypt, Israel and the Gaza Strip.

Abu Marzouk added: “The Red Cross must distribute medicines in four hospitals covering all areas of Gaza, including medicines for prisoners.”

However, the Israeli Ministry of Defense body responsible for civil affairs in the Palestinian territories (COGAT) told Agence France-Presse on Wednesday that five trucks loaded with medicines will undergo a security check at the Kerem Shalom crossing.

An Egyptian security source said a Qatari plane loaded with medicines arrived in the Egyptian city of Al-Arish on Wednesday.

For its part, France said that the medicines will be sent to Rafah hospital, where they will be delivered to the Red Cross and divided into batches before being transferred to the hostages.
