PLUMBING – A 1 year and 8 month old girl died due to the presence of worms in her respiratory tract. The little girl, who lived in the area known as “Villa Mosquito”, arrived without signs of life at the Encarnación Regional Hospital yesterday morning, as confirmed by Dr. Rubén Román, medical head of the care center.
The professional reported that the minor was treated immediately upon arrival, but unfortunately, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. “The girl was already in a critical condition and without vital signs when we received her,” said Dr. Román.
After a medical examination it was discovered that the baby had worms in her respiratory tract. In addition, she had malnutrition, ascariasis and pneumonitis. According to the preliminary report, it is presumed that the cause of her death was a bronchoaspiration caused by vomiting after eating food.
Dr. Román said that in response to the incident, they activated the protocol and reported the incident to the relevant institutions such as the National Police and the Public Ministry, which initiated an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the minor’s death.
