The 75th edition of the British Film Academy Awards.
The Disney film “Encanto”, an animated musical about a peculiar family from Colombia, won this Sunday the Bafta for best animated film at the 75th edition of the British Film Academy Awards.
At the ceremony held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the film won, in the only category in which it was nominated, over “Flee”, “Luca”, and “The Mitchells vs the Machines”.
Producer Yvett Merino and the film’s screenwriter, Jared Bush, took the stage to accept the award from Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sebastian San.
«Thank you Bafta for this, it was a dream to create a film like this since I was little. Bring together people with different personalities, different skin colors in a story. Whose voices are heard,” said Merino about the film that is inspired by Gabriel García Márquez’s work “One Hundred Years of Solitude.”
“Encanto” will reach the next Oscars on March 28, with three nominations: Best Animated Film, Best Song and Best Score.
