Employment returns in April | The Century of Torreón

With 84,857 jobs, the month of April resumes a pace of formal job creation, after the effect of Easter in March, which left the formal labor market stopped.

This figure represents an increase of 60 thousand positions compared to April 2023 when only a little more than 24 thousand formal jobs were generated.

It is a positive result in the face of the hiring trend that the country has presented this year, which presents itself with a favorable employment generation environment with a stable growth rate, although less accelerated than previous years, explained Alberto Alesi, general director. from Manpower Group.

According to ManpowerGroup monitoring, permanent work was what drove the creation of formal employment, with 88,852 formal positions, as occurs cyclically year after year during this month.

However, in the midst of this positive outlook, it is observed that 3,995 temporary jobs were lost, mainly due to the conclusion of agricultural work.

This is the second best April in terms of formal employment in the last 10 years, only behind the 87 thousand jobs registered in April 2018, the year in which the Easter effect occurred in March as well.

For the Mexican labor market, the second quarter, from April to June, is the period with the lowest rate of generation of job opportunities compared to the first and third quarters of each year, but it gives us good signs of hiring.

In the country, only 45% of companies plan to expand their workforce starting in April, and 18% plan to reduce it, according to the ManpowerGroup Employment Expectations Survey.

For the second quarter of the year, the human capital company predicts that Mexico could generate between 100,000 and 120,000 formal jobs. For its part, by the end of the year, the generation of total formal jobs is forecast between 650 thousand and 700 thousand jobs.
