MADRID, (Portaltic/EP) – The Memphis Supercluster of the technology firm X began operating this Monday to train the next generation of the large language model (LLM) Grok, as announced by the magnate Elon Musk.
Memphis, Tennessee, is home to a cluster of 100,000 Nvidia H100s GPUs in a single RDMA frame and liquid cooling, powered by teams from artificial intelligence (AI) firm xAI and social network X.
This is, according to Musk, the “most powerful AI training cluster in the world.” And he has anticipated that by December of this year “all metrics” will reflect the significant advantage in AI training, as he has shared through his profile on X.
It is expected to play a prominent role in training the next generation of Grok, its LLM. Currently, Company X offers the eponymous chatbot it powers on the social network as part of its Premium subscription. The chatbot has multimodal search capabilities, as it supports text and visual sources such as documents, charts, diagrams, graphs, photographs and screenshots.
