This Friday, the Renowned Peruvian doctor Elmer Huerta joined the voices against the Minister of Health, Cesar Vasquezfor the implementation of the evaluation for the Rural and Marginal Urban Health Service (Serums)Dr. Huerta accuses him of sabotaging medical education in the country.
Huerta supported the decision of the Faculties of Medicine of UNMSM, UPCH and other prestigious universities in Peru not to participate in the preparation of the Minsa exam. He described the actions of the minister and President Dina Boluarte as a “fraud” and a “boycott” of medical educationdemanding immediate rectification.

Huerta expressed concern about the quality of education at some private universitiesarguing that students at these politically linked institutions are not receiving adequate training.
According to him, 70% of these students fail to pass the exam. National Medical Examination (ENAM) due to their poor preparation. He harshly criticized the minister for creating a new, easier exam that would allow these poorly prepared students to pass, which, according to Huerta, will result in incompetent doctors who will not be able to provide adequate treatment to patients.
