Thousands of Argentines have already requested the subsidy for electricity and gas services. Now, with the planned increases in rates from the National Government, many families are reviewing their conditions to find out the requirements to apply for the subsidy.
Through the RASE, consumers will be able to change categories if they demonstrate that their family’s income for the month does not exceed the established limits, which vary depending on the cost of the Indec basic basket. In this way, those who lost subsidies can recover them or move to a category where they receive assistance.
Electricity and gas rates: who will not be able to request subsidies
With the update of the value of up to 3.5 basic baskets ($1,735,294.11), households that did not request the subsidy or lost it can recover it by completing the form through the RASE to demonstrate to the State that, with the parameters of the month, meet the requirements to have assistance.
Energy Segmentation is an initiative that orders subsidies for electricity and gas according to the socio-economic aspects of each home. The segments, so far – prior to the hearing that will take place on February 29 – are three:
Lower income segment
– Net income less than $495,798.32
– Exception for households with a cohabitant with a Single Disability Certificate. Income less than $743,697.48
– Own up to a property
– Not own a vehicle less than three years old
Middle income segment
– Total monthly income between $495,798.32 and $1,735,294.11
– Exception for households with a cohabitant with CUD. Monthly income between $743,697.48 and $1,735,294.11
– Own up to two properties
– Own up to a vehicle less than three years old
High income segment
– Total monthly household income equal to or greater than $1,735,294.11
– Exception for the district of Patagones (Buenos Aires), Chubut, La Pampa, Neuquén, Río Negro, Santa Cruz or Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and IAS. Income equivalent to or greater than $2,117,058.82
– Have more than three vehicles less than five years old
– Have three or more properties
– Own a boat, luxury aircraft or be the owner of corporate assets that demonstrate full economic capacity
The members of this last segment – high income – are the users who will not be able to apply to obtain the subsidy.
