You may have already heard the reassurances of electromobility advocates that today’s electric vehicles are ready for any situation and will not be deterred by anything. As is now abundantly clear, this is not true at all and this technology will need to be significantly improved to be widely usable.
The weather is not good for them
Namely, the idea that we are in 2035, when nothing but electric cars should be sold and there would be many more of them on the roads than today, and the event actually happening now is truly terrifying. It already had a really unpleasant size.
We are talking about nothing other than the big problems of electric motorists around the world, where a little more frost has appeared. The media drew attention, for example, to events in the Midwest of the United States of America, where freezing temperatures reached.
Electric cars immediately began to run out of battery very quickly, especially when their owners allowed themselves to turn on the heat. After all, there was no other way in that cold. However, the battery capacity decreased very quickly and the autonomy decreased dramatically.
Then the drivers headed en masse towards the loaders. Naturally, queues began to form there, as the infrastructure was not prepared for such an onslaught. To make matters worse, in such freezing temperatures it was not possible to charge the batteries. “Nothing. No juice. I’m still at zero percent” Tyler Beard, who was trying to charge his Tesla, said to the Fox Business server.
Great hangover
Not only him, but also many others have fully discovered that charging an electric car is actually not just a slightly longer refueling. For this to be possible, the battery must be heated to the optimal temperature, which was not possible in this cold. So the cars either didn’t charge at all or took multiple times the normal time. People then stayed on the charger for hours to recharge at least a little and go home.

Not everyone succeeded, and the disaster only worsened when many preferred to leave their cars abandoned to the shippers because they were fed up. “This is crazy. It is a disaster. Truly,“, said another Tesla owner, Chalis Mizelle. He too has seen firsthand the shortcomings of the popular brand, but also of this entire category of vehicles.
